i’m almost speechless right now.
ok so here’s the scenario. the raptors need to secure 6th spot in the east. they need to. however, going into tonight they are tied with philly at 40-40. this is ok, because toronto has the tie-breaker but but the raps and philly have 2 games left (including tonight). toronto can secure 6th spot with either of the 3 following scenarios: 1 toronto win and 1 philly loss; 2 toronto wins; or 2 philly losses.
toronto won tonight, even though for the most part they played terrible.
so it comes down to philly. if they lose tonight then toronto is guaranteed 6th. however, philly is playing cleveland so they ought to lose! cleveland hits a shot with 8 second left. philly comes right back and hits a shot with only 5 seconds left to take a 90-89 lead. the crowd is going crazy. cleveland calls a timeout. back on the floor. 5 seconds left. the ball is inbounded to, guess who, lebron and he drives the lane but falls and has his shot blocked my dalembert. the ball goes to devin brown who puts up a shot but misses after coming into contact with dalembert. no foul is called and the game ends. philly wins 90-89. the announcers proclaim the victory! the crowd goes crazy! the 76ers run off the court…and clevelands coach runs on the court. he begins to question the ref’s saying that there was a foul on the play. why was there no foul called on devin brown? but the game is over. the ref’s gather around the scorers table. but the game is over. they look at replays for 5 minutes as the teams leave the court. but the game is over. suddenly, the ref’s put down their headsets and call a foul on dalembert with 0.2 seconds left on the clock! the 76ers are called back out of the dressing room and devin brown hits two freethrows to win the game!
toronto locks up 6th!
